Customer Reviews for: Holy Bible, Giant Print Presentation Edition: King James Version

Rating 5 out of 5 - excellent choice
Very good product. The large print is good, and the pages are not cluttered with notes. This is the King James Version as it was written-- just what I wanted. Good price.

Rating 3 out of 5 - Red print
Red print: not a good idea. Theologically speaking, Christ's words in red print could suggest that the red print carries greater weight than the rest of Scripture, which is untrue. All Scripture is the inspired Word of God. And since Christ is God, there is then no sense in putting His words in red. The best Bible is a King James in all black print with no commentary on the same pages as the Scripture.

Rating 5 out of 5 - Good Edition of the King James Bible
I think this version of the King James version of the Bible is perfect for people like me who need larger printing in order to see better. The words are clear and the words of Jesus Christ are printed in Red just like the regular bible. It's rather large but managable to carry along and not too bulky. Personally I like it very much. It serves my needs very well.

Rating 3 out of 5 - Good for fiction, not for history.
The Holy Bible is definitely one of the most epic tales in all of fiction - seriously, the Odyssey and the Illiad have nothing on this one. Memorable characters and plenty of brutality to go around. Yahweh is perhaps one of the most devious and evil antagonists in all of literary history, while Jesus is the epitome of the peace-loving hippy (that is, before he tells people to gouge out their eyes and mutilate their bodies in order to avoid going to hell - real humanitarian of him).

However, there are a LOT of inaccuracies and contradictions throughout the bible, very often presenting two or even three divergent opinions as gospel on one issue over the course of several books. The Lord of the Rings movie had less continuity errors in it. I suppose a fairy tale shouldn't be held up to much standards, but come on... this is just ridiculous. Check this website for a list of all the contradictions in the bible, complete with verse reference: [...]

It's a decent book if you want to scare the hell out of little Jimmy to convince him to believe in your invisible sky daddy. The atrocities in this book are shocking enough to convert (or traumatize) any impressionable child - exactly what the Christian right wants. So overall I give three stars for a decent epic fiction story and the level of brutality shown. Can't give it 4 or 5 with the knowledge that some people actually take this book seriously and think Genesis is hard science... what a disturbing thought. And we wonder how Bush got into office with those people running around...
