Rating - Who will take the mark and who will perish?
Courtesy of CK2S Kwips and Kritiques
Here in the eighth installment in the hit series Left Behind, all people are required to take the mark of Carpathia/Satan to prove their loyalty. Should they refuse, they will be put to death via one of the "loyalty enforcers," AKA guillotines. No I'm not giving any spoilers here, so don't worry!
The Tribulation Force is more at risk then ever, with their refusal to accept Carpathia as their new "god and savior." Now they have to rely on an underground network of believers to survive in the coming half of the Tribulation, which will only get harder to endure.
This one starts to show the serious decline of Carpathia into a truly evil monster. Carpathia is actually becoming more of a caricature then anything, with his behavior changing and even his way of speaking being different post-resurrection. The Trib Force members are still exactly the same, with the men playing hero every chance they get and the women being shuffled to the sidelines to sit back and wait on their men.
Not a bad book, but I think the series is maybe starting to lose steam a bit.
Rating - good
I enjoyed reading The Mark. It was definitely a page turner. Of course it makes me want to continue with the series. Tim F. LaHaye is a great author and story teller. I actually visualized the whole the thing. I would thank him in person if I could, for a wonderful job done...
Thank you...
Rating - The Choice
This is book eight of the Left behind series. And though the writing is simple and there is very little character development. I still was able to read it on one afternoon. It does help that the book is short. Though it has 380 pages, the typeset and margins make it equivalent to a 100-page book.
In this book we have Carpathia no longer being Mr. Nice guy. He orders that everyone will worship him. And to prove their loyalty they have a choice. They may take the mark of the beast; or have their heads cut off. We do read about the process of choice in Greece. And I have to say the violence is very graphic.
Of course with the mark being applied, those Tribulation Saints that are still out in the Global Community have to flee. And we have the Tribulation Force helping them escape where they can. Of course they cannot help everyone. Though they do what they can.
The end of this book has Carpathia heading to Jerusalem. Where he will desecrate the holy temple and proclaim himself God. Thereby breaking his pact with Israel.
Even though I only rated this book two stars. If you plan to continue the series to its conclusion, as I do, you will need to read it. It introduces new characters and sets up some of the next events. For example I think they will write about the exodus of Gods Chosen from Israel.
Rating - A World In Peril
As the beast rules the world, the action quckens, characters are imperiled, and the survival of the planet is in question! How delightful!
