Rating - Larry makes getting lost an adventure
While the kids section at the local bookstore is sure to be full of great picture books about magical, mystical places and fatastical stories designed to fire young imaginations, it's always nice to find one that can turn the real world into a place of wonder. Almost anyone raised in a small town can remember the first time they feasted their eyes on the skyline of Chicago or New York. To a small child every city has that kind of wonder. Skewes captures that sense of wonder in his book. Crisp, simple prose, fun, colorful illustrations and a cute four-legged hero get lost in what to an adult might be a typical city but to a kid the only difference between Seattle and Oz is that it really exists. The perfect tonic for a 6 year old wary of getting on a plane. Make it fun. Make it an adventure. That's what he author does in this simple, colorful volume, a not so Rough Guide to a great town.
Rating - Great book
Great book with an easy to read storyline about Larry. My daughter loves how the story rhymes. Then the information about Seattle landmarks is a little higher level and great for topics of discussion with our 3 year old. One of our new favorites.
Rating - Larry Is A Valentine to Seattle for Kids
I'm quite impressed with LARRY GETS LOST IN SEATTLE and am buying it for friends in the area with young kids. It conveys a real love for the city and is packed with local history and famed landmarks delivered in a punchy, easily digestible style. A fine stocking stuffer for Seattle visitors and residents alike.
Rating - Great for Kids of all ages
This is a wonderful, informative, educational, and delightfully appealing book! It's the next best thing to taking a trip to Seattle with the family... which is what we plan to do this summer as a result of reading it. Highly recommended.
