Customer Reviews for: Lucky (1-year)

Rating 5 out of 5 - Karla Yee
I love this magazine! If you want to learn about style and how to dress - Purchase Lucky! Very affordable and comparable to In Style magazine.

Rating 2 out of 5 - Cute ideas, but otherwise too pricey fashions
This magazine is mostly to admire the fashions, unless you have a pretty big expenditure account. They do a nice job including new fashions, trends, beauty products and reviews, and home decorating ideas - but almost everything is pretty upscale and unrealistically expensive. Frequenting the pages are outfit pieces well over $300 each, shoes almost exclusively over $500, and beauty products over $60.

While I definitely did not expect this to be in any way a bargain hunters magazine, I certainly didn't expect only 10 or so pages per 120+ page issue with items under $50. It is nice and informative to browse the often outlandish fashions and keep up to date with what's in and what's up and coming, but most of the fashions are way out of budget for most people to achieve the looks they promote.

Overall, this magazine is informative, nice to look at, and always up to date on fashions - but seems to promote almost exclusively very expensive items for one to only dream about purchasing. If you're looking for a fashion magazine with items you can go out and purchase with a tight or moderate budget, don't bother. But if you're looking for a mindless read with some good ideas and new fashions, this might be the way to go.

Rating 4 out of 5 - Not a replacement for typical women's mags - and that's why I like it.
I've subscribed to this magazine since 2001. To help you avoid all misconceptions, there are no stories - it's not a "women's" magazine in that sense. The magazine focuses on the latest styles and fashions and, in my opinion, does not insist on designer name brands to meet these styles but will rather focus on a particular "look" that can be replicated. Many of the items in the actual magazine are costly designer items, but what I've always used the magazine as was to provide a blue print to copy a certain look and as a guide for fantastic shopping all over the world.

This is much more like a shopping survivor's handbook - there's no frilly nonsense, just down to business fashion ideas.

I give it 4 stars because in the time I've had the magazine, I've seen it go from almost all content to almost all advertising - there is a lot of advertising - but that's the problem with fashion magazines as they get to be more successful.

Rating 1 out of 5 - Trendy, but not realistic
It had been awhile since I had read a Lucky Magazine, but I thought surely it must be full of the latest fashions and how to incorporate those elements in a sensible (yet trendy) way. Needless to say, I was not impressed. The mag is more advertising than content. The editors do not address different body types very much. The mag shows very little cultural diversity. Overall I was not pleased. I would flip through this mag if I did not have reading material at the gym, but I would not spend hard-earned money buying it. You would get better style advice by finding a catalog that dressed their models in a style you enjoyed.
