I have 100 $1.00 bills that are in numerical serial number sequence. One of the bills is misprinted, with the serial number, seal, displayed to the right. What are the odds of this occuring?

It depends on how much the seal and serial numbers are shifted. Substantial misalignments rarely occur, while minor shifts of only a few millimeters occur quite often.

The seal and serial number is 1/2 inch to the right

A 1/2 inch shift would be considered a moderate shift, and would sell for around $80.

One last question. In your opinion, the fact that I have the bill preceding the misprint, and the one following, this has no bearing on the misprint value? Thanks. Happy New Year.

Having the bookends does indeed enhance the value, usually by another 25% to 50%.
