| Grretings to all!
I'm new here and really just here to ask all you "experts" a question about a coin I have just aquired by accident. I'm very much a novice in coin collecting over the years and have basically "beginners" knowledge in the collecting realm.
I was always under the general rule that all mass production coins by the mint(s) after 1964 were "mixed metals"" , basically no more "pure silver" coins after 1964 as a general rule for production minted coins.
Now I have recently aquired a 1967 Kennedy half dollar, very good condition, but what is strange, at least to me, is it is "pure silver", there is NO COPPER in this one (I am very much a novice in coin collecting, but I know my silver coins enough to know when they have copper mix and when they do not). Now, can anyone knowledgable with this coin please tell me if this coin is common, or have I ran across something on the rare side???
Any good information will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

| | I can answer your question, 1964 was the last year for 90% silver halfs but from 1965-1970 the goverment mad 40 % silver halfs in 1971 they started the copper nickel halfs. whats it worth ? well for the silver content alone when silver is 6.00 per oz then it would be worth about .90 |
