| | I am trying to find out what I have. The "notes" are from the Bank of the United States and were payable in 1840. They are serial numbered and in great shape. The only picture I can find that matches is in the Federal reserve museum. I have 8 of these notes. Can anyone help me? |

| Most all 1840 $1000 Bank of of United States notes are replicas, and usually sell for $1.-$3. each. Genuine examples bring $300.-$600. Most all of the replicas bear the serial number 8894 and 711.
Below is a genuine example of a 1840 Bank of the United States Note.
