I friend of mine has a $10 bill from 1834. This appears to be very rare. Does anybody have any idea how much this is worth or where I could find out a worth for him? My grandfather is a coin collector, but does not know anything about paper money.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is an "obsolete"? If it helps, this bill was apparently printed on only one side and printed in Philadelphia.

Without actually seeing the note, it's sounds like a Criswell # C-683. Obsoletes are notes that are no longer valid as legal tender.
