Hello,

My name is Julie and I am wondering if you may be able to help me. About 10 years ago I was given a piece of paper currency. Today I was cleaning my closet and came across it once again. This was given to me by a family member of an elderly woman that had passed away. She lived across the street from me and I often helped her out. When she passed away they let me pick a few things out for myself.

I have been researching this a little bit on the internet. I found an almost identical bill on the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco website http://frbsf.org/. According to the website this is from the Westward Expansion. It is from the Second Bank of the United States. It's denomination is of $10. It is dated 1834 (January 23 ?). The picture I found there is almost identical except that one is dated 1835 (October 20?) and has an H and something which is located below the number 10. Mine has a G it might be G /64/6. And of course it has a different name handwritten to pay to the order of. Other than that they are identical.

Could this really be authentic? What should I do now? I never really thought it was worth anything but now after seeing it on that website I am very interested in pursuing this further. My bill it totally intact. It is rather yellow and a bit wavy but otherwise in excellent shape. I should also mention that there is no print on the reverse side of this bill. Is this how they were printed back then?

I would be most grateful if you could help me out or refer me to someone who can . Thank You!

Julie
